For many teens, summer is just getting underway. But increased time spent outdoors also comes with increased safety concerns: Sun exposure, swimming, biking, and hiking can all increase the risk of various adolescent injuries.

CIRP@CHOP's Flaura Winston MD, PhD and Mark Zonfrillo, MD, MSCE (@safetymd) of the Center for Injury Research and Prevention will be special guests for an upcoming Twitter Chat on Adolescent Summer Safety.

Hosted by the Office of Adolescent Health (@TeenHealthGov), the goal of the chat is to connect those who work with and care about teens to learn more about adolescent summer safety, discuss best practices for safety prevention, and share resources.

The chat will take place Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 3 to 4 p.m. (ET).

Cohosts:  The Center for Disease Control’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (@CDCInjury) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration @NHTSAGov.

Hashtag: #TeenSummer
