Applications are due Wednesday, August 16 and people will be notified of selection by Aug. 30, 2023.

Academic Entrepreneurship Fundamentals

A Professional Development Course provides seven weekly, three-hour, in-person skill-building sessions and mentorship/coaching from current academic entrepreneurs (and snacks). The course is designed for postdocs and clinical subspecialty fellows. However, any CHOP staff and faculty who want to increase their knowledge and confidence with academic entrepreneurship will benefit from this course. No previous experience with entrepreneurship is required.

Course session topics:

  • Customer discovery & articulating a problem statement
  • Market research and prototyping
  • Regulatory considerations
  • Legal considerations (IP, COI, Tech Transfer)
  • De-risking business plans and team building
