Office of Diversity and Inclusion
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is your gateway to information and resources about diversity and inclusion at CHOP, working toward goals that span the community, patients and the CHOP workforce. We partner with Human Resources by providing in-service trainings and education to departments, facilitate programs with CHOP Leadership Institute like Diversity Dialogue, and advocate for equity in our policies and procedures. We collaborate with Community Relations to promote diversity events in our Philadelphia community and foster relationships to promote optimal health outcomes for children. Several initiatives are also underway with the Department of Patient and Family Services to ensure that our providers are prepared for the cultural diversity our patients and families bring to CHOP.
Cultural Awareness Council
The Cultural Awareness Council brings together clinical and non-clinical staff members from across the organization to spearhead ways in which CHOP can celebrate and honor different cultures / communities and special observances.
Diversity Fair and Diversity Stories
Sponsored by The Cultural Awareness Council in partnership with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, this regular series includes tables and poster presentations showcasing the wealth of diversity and inclusion efforts and resources here at CHOP and showcases CHOP employees across the institution presenting their stories. Recent stories included refugees from Nepal and Iraq and employees who have hidden backgrounds such as coming from the Amish faith and being biracial.
Employee Resource Groups
CHOP's Employee Resource Groups provide our employees with a sense of connection to the broader mission of the organization beyond their day-to-day tasks—allowing opportunities to impact strategic organizational drivers by ensuring that key-specific dimensions of diversity are fully integrated. Additionally, members provide each other with an enhanced sense of belonging through broadening access to personal and professional development and growth. Members offer each other a broader scope for personal and professional development through mentoring, volunteerism and community involvement.

This network aims to develop and enhance CHOP's workplace diversity efforts by expanding the visibility of people with disabilities in the workplace, and offering recommendations for adequate accommodations and resources available for employees and families throughout the organization. Pride @ CHOP
Pride @ CHOP is an employee network that works to foster a positive work environment that supports employees, patients, and patient families identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) and our allies (non-LGBT advocates).
