Dr. Gathers is a pediatric critical care fellow and postdoctoral research fellow working to mitigate racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in pediatric cardiac arrest.
Bio
Dr. Cody Gathers is a pediatric critical care fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and a postdoctoral research fellow in the National Clinician Scholars Program, through which he is obtaining his Master of Science in Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania. His passion includes community engagement to mitigate racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in cardiac arrest, and he develops interventions to mitigate these disparities within hospital systems and communities.
He studied biochemistry and military leadership at Clemson University and subsequently obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. Prior to his fellowship, he completed his residency in pediatrics through the Urban Health and Advocacy Track of the Boston Combined Residency Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center.
