Clinical Futures is currently accepting applications for the Pediatric Hospital Epidemiology and Outcomes Training (PHEOT) program, a T32-funded postdoctoral training program, for the academic year beginning July 1, 2024. To enhance the diversity of our training programs, we are especially interested in identifying candidates from underrepresented minority backgrounds.

Applications are due Nov. 1, 2023. Find out more about the program and apply.

The fellowship typically funds trainees for two years, and includes a stipend, tuition support for MSCE or MSHP, health insurance benefits, and some support for training related expenses such as books, software, or conference travel. Physicians who are United States citizens or permanent residents and have at least two years of postgraduate training are eligible to apply.

The PHEOT program trains the next generation of clinical scientists who will understand how to best measure and improve outcomes, assure patient safety, and manage costs for hospitalized children. PHEOT is open to fellows in all clinical specialties, as long as their primary research is in hospital epidemiology and outcomes. PHEOT is also open post-clinical-fellowship for individuals who did not receive research training and want to obtain such training.

We consider hospital epidemiology and outcomes in broad and holistic terms. Issues of equity, disparities, social determinants of health, and the care of children who reside in urban environments are as pertinent as technical aspects of hospital care.
