NAM Recognizes Christopher Forrest, MD, PhD, for advancing large-scale pediatric research networks.

As vice chair of clinical research in the Department of Radiology, Dr. Otero oversees a growing translational and clinical research program that is broadly related to and impacts nearly every pediatric subspecialty. This program includes interventional radiology, cardiovascular, lymphatic imaging, pulmonary imaging, and oncology, among many others.

Working together as a national community of hospitals, healthcare organizations, researchers and clinicians, patients and families to identify the most important research questions that can reduce children’s suffering and support their healthy development.

The Feudtner Lab advances the well-being of children, adolescents, and young adults with complex chronic conditions and serious, often rare, illnesses, and promotes the well-being of their families.

Dr. Doupnik’s research investigates how to ensure that children can access effective mental health services. She uses methods from diverse fields, including epidemiology, comparative effectiveness, and health policy research. Currently, she is focused on suicide prevention and integration of mental health services into children’s hospitals.

Dr. Feudtner's research strives to advance the well-being of pediatric patients with complex chronic conditions and serious, often rare, illnesses, and to promote the well-being of their families. Along with his colleagues, Dr. Feudtner is conducting studies focusing on pediatric palliative care, complex care, the impact on families of pediatric serious illness, and pediatric medical ethics.
