With $50 million in NIH funding, the research team will recruit and follow 2,500 pregnant patients and their children for the next seven years.

Dr. Ren's primary research focus is to develop better methods to assess lung disease in infants and young children using advanced pulmonary function testing and imaging.

The MAGIC Study is looking at the microbiome as it develops during the first two years of life. It brings together expertise in the microbiome, antibiotic stewardship, immunology, neonatology, and infectious diseases to study the effect that health and environment have on the microbiome and growth.

The Feudtner Lab advances the well-being of children, adolescents, and young adults with complex chronic conditions and serious, often rare, illnesses, and promotes the well-being of their families.

Dr. Feudtner's research strives to advance the well-being of pediatric patients with complex chronic conditions and serious, often rare, illnesses, and to promote the well-being of their families. Along with his colleagues, Dr. Feudtner is conducting studies focusing on pediatric palliative care, complex care, the impact on families of pediatric serious illness, and pediatric medical ethics.

Dr. Eichenwald's research interests include clinical trials and quality improvement in neonatal-perinatal medicine. He has extensive experience in the conduct of multicenter clinical trials, having served as a site principal investigator for several funded, multicenter randomized trials of interventions aimed at improving outcomes of premature newborns.

Dr. Coffin’s research interests focus on the epidemiology and prevention of healthcare-associated infections in the pediatric population. She also investigates the epidemiology of pediatric respiratory viral infections, with a particular emphasis on influenza.
