The purpose of this study is to establish connections between biomarkers (a measurable substance in your blood, urine, or saliva) and the stage and grade of bone and cartilage disease in MPS patients.

Visit Criteria

If you agree to take part, your participation will involve 4 visits over a period of 12 months, with assessments done for 3-4 hours per visit at CHOP. If you are unable to participate on one of the exact visit days assigned, you will have the option of scheduling additional days within 8 weeks of your first visit. You will also have the option of completing the entire visit in a single day if scheduling permits. There are differences between this study and your usual care. As a participant in this study, you will:

  • Undergo research imaging, such as ultrasounds or MRIs. Receive gait/motion analysis. 
  • Have the strength of your muscles tested. 
  • Have the electrical activity in your muscles tested. 
  • Research blood draws.
  • Provide urine and saliva samples.
  • Complete questionnaires. 
Participants will be compensated for their time and effort.
