Developmental Biology

The Edwards Lab uses multi-omics approaches to human-derived biospecimens for target discovery and in vitro cardiomyocyte and in vivo animal models for mechanistic validation and investigation.

Dr. Liao is a pediatric plastic surgeon-scientist and the founding director of the Center for Craniofacial Innovation at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. His research leverages convergent advances in fetal care, human genetics, and developmental biology to initiate first-in-child trials and treatments.

The Heuckeroth Lab investigates mechanisms controlling bowel motility in order to find new ways to treat, diagnose, and prevent intestinal motility disorders.

The Gadue Lab studies human pancreatic and hematopoietic development and associated diseases using human pluripotent stem cells. The lab’s research efforts are devoted to directed differentiation and CRISPR-based genome engineering of stem cells to use in the study and development of treatments for diabetes and blood disorders.

Dr. Heuckeroth investigates mechanisms controlling bowel motility in order to find new ways to treat, diagnose, and prevent intestinal motility disorders. His research is focused on enteric nervous system and smooth muscle biology as he works to find new ways to improve the lives of children with bowel motility disorders.
