The goal of the Research Business Operations team is to ensure that Research Administration units are working efficiently, effectively, and focused on tasks that enhance the delivery of services provided by key business operation units to researchers and administrators across the organization. The Research Business Operations office centralizes the provision of operational services to ensure high performance standards related to and involving the offices of Pre-Award, Post-Award & Research Portfolio Management, Specialized Accounting, and Non-Traditional Personnel, as well as activities related to the optimization of electronic research systems (eSPA), human resources transactional activities, communications, policies and procedures, training, and professional development.

The RBO will be key partners with the Research Project Management Office to ensure that action plans, timelines, and resources for successful project completion is achieved. The team will be strategic advisors of the Vice President, Research Administration & Operations who will address competing demands through assessment, prioritization, performance metrics, and appropriate allocation of resources in support of efficiency as well as overarching Research Institute goals.

Additionally, the RBO will serve as key partners with the HR and Finance Business partners to evaluate and advise on developing a more efficient and optimized workflow strategy between and within research operational units by evaluating legacy operational processes, procedures, and standards in an effort to develop and monitor an enhanced service-delivery model. The RBO team will analyze the effectiveness of revamped processes, strategize to improve efficiency and productivity and oversee existing programs for quality assurance.
