Dr. Olson aims to improve diagnostics and treatment of bone marrow failure (BMF) syndromes, and to improve clinical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) outcomes. He conducts clinical trials of HSCT for non-malignant hematologic diseases. His laboratory explores both basic and translational research focused on genomics of BMF and the impact of BMF on hematopoietic niche function during HSCT.
Dr. Jacobs’s current research focuses on several areas, including the biochemical, microbiological, and genetic cause of scarring or stenosis of the laryngotracheal airway, and the development of tissue-engineered cartilage and other novel biomaterials for laryngotracheal reconstruction. Dr. Jacobs is also investigating the mitigation of button battery injuries in infants and children.
Dr. Foglia's research aims to identify the best methods to monitor and perform neonatal resuscitation, with the ultimate goal of optimizing outcomes for high risk infants who require resuscitation in the delivery room and neonatal intensive care unit setting.
Dr. Kelsen’sresearch focus is on the genetic, immunologic, and microbiomic causes of very early onset inflammatory bowel disease. Through a multidisciplinary team approach, Dr. Kelsen and her colleagues perform genetic sequencing to identify causative genetic variants in children with VEO-IBD, study the function of these variants, and use this information to improve the clinical outcomes for these children.
