Michael B. Robinson, PhD
Michael B. Robinson

Dr. Robinson has a longstanding research interest in the function and regulation of brain glutamate transport under physiologic and pathologic conditions.

E-mail:
robinson [at] pennmedicine.upenn.edu
Hajime Takano, PhD
Hajime Takano

Dr. Takano's research focuses on basic epilepsy and related neuroscience research centered on advanced optical imaging techniques such as fluorescence lifetime imaging and two-photon microscopy; and application of micro- and nanotechnology like graphene transparent electrode to functional cellular imaging.

E-mail:
takanoh [at] chop.edu
Angela N. Viaene, MD, PhD
Angela N. Viaene

Dr. Viaene's research interests include thalamocortical projections, CNS tumors, neurogenetic disorders, and hypoxic/ischemic brain injury.

E-mail:
viaenea [at] chop.edu
Yuanquan Song, PhD
Yuanquan Song

Dr. Song works to elucidate the cellular and molecular basis governing the formation, maintenance, and function of neural circuits under physiological and pathological conditions, using both Drosophila and mammalian models.

E-mail:
songy2 [at] chop.edu
Elizabeth Walshe, PhD
Elizabeth A. Walshe

Dr. Walshe's research uses cognitive, neuropsychological, and neuroscientific techniques to understand higher-level cognitive control over the complex and high-risk motor task of driving. In particular, Dr. Walshe investigates how cognitive development in young drivers may impact driver safety.

E-mail:
walshee [at] chop.edu
Xilma R. Ortiz-Gonzalez, MD, PhD
Xilma R. Ortiz-Gonzalez

Dr. Ortiz-Gonzalez is a physician-scientist specializing in pediatric neurogenetics. Her clinical work focuses on finding a unifying genetic diagnosis for children with rare neurodevelopmental disorders. Her research is informed by her patients and focuses on understanding how genetic changes, in particular those affecting mitochondrial function, cause disease so we can develop better treatments for these children in the future.

Ran Barzilay, MD, PhD
Ran Barzilay

Dr. Barzilay aims to understand what drives variability in the development of brain and behavior of youths growing up under stress. He studies biological and environmental mechanisms leading to suicidal behavior, using big datasets of diverse genotyped youths with deep phenotyping of environment.

E-mail:
barzilayr [at] chop.edu
Ethan M. Goldberg, MD, PhD
Ethan M. Goldberg

Dr. Goldberg's research program focuses on investigating cerebral cortical circuit function and dysfunction in neurodevelopmental disorders. Using a variety of research techniques, Dr. Goldberg has a specific research interest in the workings of neuron subtype called GABAergic inhibitory interneuron and the role of interneuron dysfunction in disease.

E-mail:
goldberge [at] chop.edu
Eric D. Marsh, MD, PhD
Eric D. Marsh

Dr. Marsh's research program focuses on understanding how changes in brain development lead to epilepsy, intellectual disability, and autism. He combines molecular and physiological tools in mouse models to ask questions about the interaction of normal development with single gene mutations to determine how the brain responds to perturbations in development.

E-mail:
marshe [at] chop.edu
Stewart A. Anderson, MD
Stewart A. Anderson

Dr. Anderson’s research interests focus on the molecular and cellular mechanisms that govern the development of the mammalian forebrain. In his research on the development of the cerebral cortex, he is particularly interested in understanding the molecular underpinnings behind the fate determination and axon targeting of subclasses of GABAergic interneurons implicated in the neuropathology of schizophrenia.
