Stefano Rivella

Dr. Rivella is an expert in the pathophysiology of erythroid and iron disorders and in the generation of lentiviral vectors for the cure of hemoglobinopathies. He also investigates additional disorders such as anemia of inflammation and hemochromatosis.

Maria G. Vogiatzi

Dr. Vogiatzi's research goals are to improve the health of children with gonadal disorders and understand the role of glucocorticoids, androgens, and sex steroids in health and disease.

Dah-Jyuu Wang, PhD
Dah-Jyuu Wang

Dr. Wang works on biomarker identification using multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging and homo- and hetero-nuclear spectroscopy techniques for pediatric disease research including  tumors, iron overload, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, autism, mitochondrial, Gaucher’s, and Canavan’s diseases.

Janet L. Kwiatkowski

Dr. Kwiatkowski is director of the Thalassemia Center at CHOP. Her research focuses on gene therapy for hemoglobinopathies, monitoring and treatment of complications of thalassemia, sickle cell disease, pyruvate kinase deficiency, and monitoring and treatment of transfusional iron overload.

Carlo Castruccio Castracani, PhD
Carlo Castruccio Castracani

Dr. Castracani’s research work is focused on the most common form of X-linked sideroblastic anemia which results from mutations in the ALAS2 gene and inhibits normal heme biosynthesis.
