Synapses were firing throughout the conference room in the Colket Translational Research Building as attendees at the 2017 Research Institute Scientific Symposium held May 2 learned about their colleagues' intriguing research endeavors. The four sessions' themes aligned smartly with the Research Institute's strategic planning process and overall mission of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
The Computational Epigenetics Lab develops novel algorithms and big data analytics to understand epigenetic cell identity and its dynamics in cell fate transition, organismal development, and human disease. The team disentangles cellular and physiological processes that impact DNA methylation and chromatin states.
The Mechanistic Molecular Immunology Lab integrates cutting-edge structural biology and biochemistry tools with functional immunoassays to understand the molecular basis of immune responses to viral infections and tumors, with an emphasis on the development of novel protein-based therapeutics.
