A new, safe, state-of-the-art technique called HR-pQCT (high resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography) can be used to measure bone health in children and adults. Because children have growing bones, researchers at CHOP need to develop measurement techniques that work best for children as they grow and transition to adulthood. This study will measure bone density and structure of the arm and leg in healthy children and adults to establish the best way to take these measurements. This study is needed so that future studies can use HR-pQCT to diagnose and monitor treatment of poor bone health in children with complex medical problems.
