The Grant Proposal Success (GPS) Program is led by Professor Matthew Weitzman, PhD. Formed in 2017 by a group of five researchers who came together to support each other in a grant writing community, this program has grown into numerous communities and workshops. The Program includes a GPS Workshop series at CHOP and 10+ GPS communities formed in partnership with centers, departments, divisions, and like-minded colleagues across the CHOP Research Institute and the University of Pennsylvania.

The GPS Workshop is a cooperative program between GPS and Academic Training and Outreach Program (ATOP). This multi-session, cohort-based workshop occurs on an annual basis. Cohorts of around 20 participants at the postdoctoral/fellow stage of training come together monthly to support each other in proposal preparation. Applications open in January of each year.

The GPS communities assemble with a range of researchers from first-time grant submitters to established investigators who provide experience and guidance. They are focused on specific research areas or common career stages.

On an ad-hoc basis, the GPS program also facilitates Faculty Panel Reviews, GPS Pop-Up Workshops, External Reviews, and Mock Study Sections.
