This study aims to support families with buying, cooking, and eating fresh fruits and vegetables at home! The goal of this study is to learn how fruit and vegetable vouchers and virtual cooking classes and resources affect families' experiences with home cooking and food shopping, as well as caregiver mental health.

Visit Criteria

Visit 1: Baseline data collection 

  • Dietary intake recording through an online system [with assistance from a study team member, if needed]
  • Urine collection 
  • Questionnaires

Visit 2:  Randomly assigned to one of the three interventions listed below. 

  • Vouchers alone 
    • Voucher delivery/pick-up every 2 weeks for 8 weeks
    • Brief phone check-in with study team member as needed
  • Vouchers + Home Plate Lite
    • Voucher delivery/pick-up every 2 weeks for 8 weeks
    • Cooking and food education resource delivery weekly
  • Brief phone check-in with study team member as needed
  • Vouchers + Virtual Home Plate
    • Voucher delivery/pick-up every 2 weeks for 8 weeks
    • Two virtual cooking sessions (approximately 1 hour each) or one virtual cooking session (approximately 2 hours) per week
    • Brief phone check-in with study team member as needed

Visit 3: Follow-up data collection 

  • Dietary intake recording through an online system
  • Urine collection 
  • Questionnaires
