Dr. Maxwell will discuss her independent research, which aims to describe social media use in young people with type 1 diabetes and understand how it may be used to improve outcomes.

Objectives

  • Review the current states of diabetes treatment adherence and wellbeing in young people and recent research social media and health, especially pertaining to diabetes
  • Review methodology and results of qualitative and quantitative research aimed at better understanding the influence of social media on young people with type 1 diabetes
  • Describe and discuss planned interventional studies using social media to improve adherence and wellbeing of young people with type 1 diabetes
