The Office of Academic Training and Outreach Programs and Postdocs for Diversity in Science present a diversity symposium:

Understanding our Collective Impact: Science, Society, and Change that Matters

Keynote Speaker:
Lewis Wheaton, PhD
Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at Georgia Tech
Director of Center for Promoting Inclusion and Equity in the Sciences

Lewis Wheaton, PhD, is an associate professor of biological sciences and the inaugural Director of Center for Promoting Inclusion and Equity in the Sciences (C-PIES) at Georgia Tech. Dr. Wheaton also serves as an elected member of city council for Smyrna, Ga.

There are many ways to impact a community. Crucially, this requires an idea, an objective, and a focus on what community means. During this discussion, Dr. Wheaton will reflect on the change we can make in science and society (in large and small ways) through individual growth and shared experiences.
