The use of electrical impedance tomography (EIT) for patients is a potentially feasible, real-time bedside monitoring technique that can improve the ability to manage invasive mechanical ventilation. The study will compare lung compliance determined by mechanical ventilator with EIT to determine global and regional lung compliance for children receiving invasive mechanical ventilation. Electrical impedance tomography recordings will be made during usual clinical care with recording of ventilator data during each EIT session. Up to 3 EIT measurements will be made after initiation of IMV and obtaining consent. Initial EIT will occur between hours 0-48 with 2 subsequent recordings in the first 7 days of IMV. EIT 2 will occur 24-72 hours after initial recording and EIT 3 24-72 hours after EIT 2.
