Research underway at the Center for Celiac Disease aims to further characterize the pediatric celiac population. The Center, which is part of the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at CHOP, works with the largest pediatric celiac disease patient cohort in the nation, building a specimen repository and collaborating with labs to complete novel research in genomics, metagenomics, and the gut microbiome.

Research Project Highlights

Here some examples of studies the Center for Celiac Disease is involved in:

  • Genotyping of early-onset celiac disease
  • Evolution of BMI in obese children with celiac disease
  • Assessment of gluten-free diet adherence in adolescents with celiac disease
  • Vitamin D and malnutrition status of newly diagnosed pediatric celiac patients
