Behavioral Oncology Program
The Behavioral Oncology Program at the Center for Childhood Cancer Research aims to improve the medical and psychosocial outcomes and health-related quality of life in young patients and their families across the continuum of cancer care.
Investigators apply behavioral translational research to achieve this mission by:
- Developing, evaluating, and disseminating translational models of psychosocial risk and resilience and evidence-based practice
- Applying contextual models (e.g. family and social ecological) to understanding and handling pressing issues in pediatric psycho-oncology
- Providing leadership in behavioral research and clinical training across health disciplines.
The depth, breadth, and commitment of researchers at the CCCR have led to development of tools and interventional strategies to improve psychosocial outcomes across the continuum of pediatric cancer care for children, adolescents, and young adults and their families from diagnosis through treatment. Our research is advanced through cross-disciplinary collaborations at the regional, national, and international levels including through the Children's Oncology Group.
