Submit Nominations by April 18 for the 2025 Outstanding Research Staff Awards

CHOP-based faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, physician fellows, instructors, and managers are invited to submit nominations by April 18 for the 2025 Outstanding Research Staff Awards. The awards provide institution-wide recognition for CHOP research staff who provide exemplary support in the conduct of research and training and provide a mechanism for mentors to show their appreciation for their research staff.

Eligibility

Current research staff who have been employed at CHOP for more than one year and are on the Research Institute Technical Career Ladder are eligible for the award. This includes the following job titles:

• Research Technician I-IV
• Research Lab Specialist I or II
• Research Associate Scientist I or II
• Research Staff Scientist I or II
• Senior Research Scientist
• Principal Research Scientist
• Research Lab Manager
• Research Lab Director

Nomination forms must be completed via REDCap by 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025.
A maximum of two letters of support (optional) may be attached to the nomination form. Sample nomination form.

Categories

Nominators must work directly with the nominee and may nominate only one candidate. Nominees should be nominated by their level of experience and one area of recognition.

• Level of Experience
  • Junior (less than five years of experience)
  • Post-PhD (five or more years of experience)
  • Lab management (regardless of job title and years of experience)
• Area of Recognition
  Statements of support must describe how the nominee has demonstrated the specific qualities listed for each Area of Recognition criteria (200 words or less per criteria):
  • Scientific Merit/Excellence in Research
  • Leadership in Research
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Commitment to Training.

A select group of research trainees will review and evaluate nominations based on the strength of the submission materials. At least four outstanding research staff awardees will be chosen; however, reviewers may elect to choose more than one winner in each experience/recognition category.
CHOP Research Institute senior leadership will recognize all nominees on Research Staff Recognition Day, June 3, 2025. Award winners will be announced at a breakfast session.
