eSPA Improvements

Pre-Award Research Administration is happy to announce a significant streamlining of the certifications collected in eSPA to satisfy federal and CHOP requirements for grant applications.

Since Human Resources regularly scans CHOP employees against federal exclusion lists, investigators and research staff will no longer have to answer whether they have been “debarred” from receiving federal funding. This means non-key grant personnel will no longer need to complete any eSPA certification. In addition, principal investigators will now be able to complete their certifications with a single form in eSPA, rather than the previous two forms.

This should reduce the burden of doing their certifications as well as chasing down technicians and postdocs to do theirs, and reduce the number of certification-related email notifications.
