CHOP's T32 fellowship program in Clinical Pharmacology is currently recruiting fellows for appointment in July. This is a joint program for adult and pediatric trainees held in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at Thomas Jefferson University (TJU).This program is a great opportunity for clinical fellows interested in research-oriented careers including clinical trials, PK/PD, drug development, or any number of basic, translational, or clinical research areas related to therapeutics.

The Clinical Pharmacology T32 program has trained a number of dual fellows in clinical pharmacology and disciplines such as allergy/immunology, maternal-fetal medicine, general surgery, adult and pediatric oncology, gastroenterology, transplant nephrology, pulmonology and many others. The majority of recent graduates have gone on to faculty positions, with some using this T32 as springboard for K and other career grants. It is a broadly applicable training opportunity for fellows pursuing research in just about any therapeutic-related project.

The program provides:

  • Salary support at appropriate PGY level for a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 years (most fellows participate for 2 years)
  • Educational curriculum, including opportunities to pursue a Master's program
  • Ability to work with a variety of mentors, including those in home clinical department
  • Training in and use of the Clinical Research Unit at TJU (optional for CHOP fellows)
  • Ability to be eligible for board certification in Clinical Pharmacology

Program requirements:

  • Current status as a trainee (no faculty or clinical instructors allowed)
  • Clearly articulated goal of career in human investigation
  • <20% time clinical responsibilities during period of appointments
  • US citizenship or permanent residency
  • MD/DO/PharmD (PhDs possible in select circumstances)
