Applications Open for Preparing for Academic Teaching Workshop

Apply by May 4 to participate in the Preparing for Academic Teaching (PAT) Workshop.

Program Dates: Wednesday, May 31, June 7, June 14, and June 21

Time: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

PAT is four-session interactive program that provides a structured cohort experience in which each participant will design an undergraduate or graduate course. This program is taught by the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Teaching and Learning. The content is designed for individuals who will soon be seeking faculty positions with a significant teaching component. Participants will leave the course with drafts of a syllabus and course schedule.

Topics Covered Include

  • Who are my students and what do I want them to learn?
  • How do I assess student learning effectively?
  • How do I make the most of my time with students in class?
  • How do I communicate goals and expectations with my students?
