Much progress has been made in treating pediatric cancer, but we still need more effective therapies for those children we fail to cure and less toxic therapies for those who we do cure. Improvement in therapy will require an understanding of the differences between cancer cells that respond to therapy and those that do not. Not only are there differences between one patient's tumor and another patient's, but there are also differences between the cells within a single patient's tumor.
The Wolpaw Lab is focused on trying to understand how this intratumoral heterogeneity impacts response to therapy, and particularly immunotherapy.
