Office of Technology Transfer
The Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) serves as the liaison between Children's Hospital's basic and clinical research and the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries. Its goal is to facilitate the development of products that advance medicine for the benefit of children and their families.
OTT is dedicated to providing the best service possible to Children's Hospital investigators by minimizing the time they spend on technology transfer-related matters, which in turn, enables them to focus on their research and clinical activities. The office manages and seeks commercial partners for intellectual property created at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute. It also manages corporate-sponsored research and clinical trial agreements.
OTT is divided into three divisions, each of which is committed to providing top-notch services to the Children's Hospital community.
- The Division of Technology Commercialization works with investigators to determine if their discoveries have commercial potential and are ready to be patented, marketed, and licensed.
- The Division of Corporate Alliances promotes collaborative research relationships between corporate sponsors and the Hospital's academic investigators by negotiating contracts associated with clinical trials and corporate-sponsored research, as well as confidential disclosure, materials transfer, data use, and collaborative research agreements.
- The Division of Intellectual Property manages the protection process for intellectual property created at Children's Hospital.
